MANAGERIAL JOB OPPORTUNITIES (WASTE LANDFILLS COMPANY LIMITED)


The Waste Landfills Company Ltd is a subsidiary company within the Zoomlion Group of companies and is set up to provide effective waste disposal services for economic and social good and in an environmentally sustainable manner. 

The company requires for immediate employment results-oriented and self driven persons for the following positions:


1. OPERATIONS MANAGER


Reporting to the General Manager, this individual will be responsible for the planning, execution and monitoring of the waste disposal operational activities and management of maintenance activities of all plant at the waste disposal sites. The selected candidate will 

Develop, document and maintain standards, plans, strategies, policies and procedures in respect of the waste disposal processes so as to ensure achievement of the organization’s goals.

Determine, document and update the cost of waste disposal.

Manage and oversee the daily operation and administration of the solid waste transfer and disposal services  which includes planning, organization, and supervision of  transfer stations and landfill operations , customer service, field services to ensure safe and efficient operations;

Continually monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of services, assesses work load, reporting relationships and opportunities for improvements within the services and facilities managed and maintained by the company;

Oversee all the contract administrative duties for the company, including negotiating and recommending contract terms; evaluating performance, and ensuring compliance to warranty and contract agreements;

Ensure and oversee compliance with all statutory and local laws and regulations pertaining to the transfer and disposal of all municipal solid waste, landfill operations, including overseeing the preparation and maintenance of compliance reports and records;

Oversee the allocation, use, inventory and maintenance of solid waste facilities, equipment, materials, and supplies; inspects facilities and sites and identifies conditions which need attention, repair and/or maintenance; processes requests for equipment purchases;

Oversee the maintenance of the  plant and equipment at the waste disposal sites ensuring that such assets are in a pristine state


The preferred candidate will have:

 

A university degree in Engineering, Environmental science or Biochemistry or a related field with a minimum of eight years relevant experience, four of which should have been in a supervisory position in a waste management or related facility  or company  OR a university degree in Engineering, Environmental science or Biochemistry or a related field plus a Masters degree in a relevant field and a minimum of six years relevant experience, three of which should have in a  should have been in a supervisory position in a waste management or related facility  or company.

Experience in the supervision of plant maintenance activities will be an asset.

membership or certification from a professional body in the industry will be an advantage.

2. FINANCE  MANAGER


The Finance Manager will to the General Manager and be responsible for management of the finances of the company. He/She will undertake 

Development and/or documentation and maintenance of financial management policies, procedures and systems, ensuring compliance with same

Development and/or documentation and  maintenance  of accounting manuals 

Budget planning, implementation and maintenance

Treasury and disbursement management 

Financial accounting and reporting to the board and shareholders as required 

Formulation of strategic and long-term business plans

Overseeing the effective procurement of goods and services

Management of stakeholder relationships in respect of  financial management viz, audit, regulatory agencies, government revenue agencies, etc


The preferred candidate will have: 


Professional Accounting Qualification such as ACCA, CA, CIMA, ICA, CPA plus a minimum of five years post qualification experience.

An MBA or postgraduate degree in Finance or a related field will be an advantage

Work experience in a waste management or related field will be an asset.

Strong computer skills, specifically experience with using accounting software

Basic understanding of local country taxation concepts.
